VAT Registration & VAT Returns in Midrand

Register for VAT at the right time, submit every VAT201 correctly and on time, and get support when SARS asks questions.

Overview

How we help

Since 1 April 2026 you must register for VAT once your taxable supplies exceed, or are expected to exceed, R2.3 million in any 12-month period. You can choose to register voluntarily once they pass R120 000. Registering too early can strain your cash flow, and registering late can mean paying VAT you never charged your customers. We help you make the right call, then take care of the returns.

What's included

  • Assessment of whether you must, or should, register
  • VAT registration on SARS eFiling, including supporting documents
  • Monthly or bi-monthly VAT201 returns
  • Input VAT checks so you claim everything you are entitled to
  • Catch-up of outstanding VAT returns
  • Responses to SARS VAT verifications and audits
  • VAT deregistration when it makes sense

Your feedback helps other South African businesses find accounting support they can trust.

Yavele taught me that a tax refund doesn't mean SARS got everything right. A refund can give you false comfort, but you need qualified professionals to verify your return before accepting what SARS tells you. Their expertise made all the difference, and I'd recommend them to anyone who wants their tax affairs done properly.
GVerified Google reviewIndividual tax
I run an accounting business and rely on Mdu at Yavele Consulting for my clients' tax work, both individual and business. His work is thorough and technically sound, and he takes time to analyse the tax implications of clients' plans before decisions are made, rather than just filing returns after the fact. He's responsive, deadlines are met, and clients come away with clarity on where they stand with SARS.

Common questions

Frequently askedquestions

When must I register for VAT?

You must register when your taxable supplies exceed R2.3 million in any 12-month period, or when you expect them to within the next 12 months. This threshold applies from 1 April 2026; it was R1 million before.

Can I register for VAT voluntarily?

Yes, once your taxable supplies exceed R120 000 in the past 12 months. Voluntary registration can help if most of your customers are VAT vendors who can claim the VAT back, but it adds admin and cash flow pressure, so we check the numbers with you first.

I'm behind on my VAT returns. Can you help?

Yes. We bring outstanding VAT201 returns up to date, check them for errors and deal with SARS on your behalf, including requests to reduce penalties where you qualify.

How long does VAT registration take?

It depends on how quickly SARS processes the application and whether it asks for further documents or a verification. Submitting a complete, correct application is the best way to avoid delays.
